From the outside they can look alike. Why the surgeon matters more than the country
A penile implant is a specialised operation. Warning signs when comparing clinics
Be cautious if a clinic or agency:
- does not name the surgeon who will operate, or cannot tell you their specialty
- quotes a price without naming the implant brand and model
- promises a certain result, an operation with no discomfort or a set number of extra centimetres
- offers to book surgery without reviewing your medical history or examining you
- pressures you with "today only" discounts or deposits before you have had a consultation
- cannot explain how infection is prevented or what happens if you have a problem at home
- uses before-and-after photographs or reviews that you cannot verify

Penile implants and Peyronie's disease surgery are urological operations, and in most countries they are carried out by urologists with a special interest in andrology. Some cosmetic clinics offer "penis enlargement" operations performed by plastic surgeons; ask exactly what their surgeon's training is in implant surgery.
Should I ask how many implants the surgeon has performed?
Yes, it is a reasonable question. Ask how often the surgeon performs implant surgery and revision surgery, and be wary of round-number claims that cannot be checked.
Is a "JCI-standard" hospital the same as a JCI-accredited hospital?
No. Accreditation belongs to a specific hospital and can be checked on the accrediting organisation's own website. Phrases such as "international standards" are not the same thing, so ask which hospital you will be treated in and check it yourself.
Is it better to book through a medical travel agency?
Agencies can help with logistics, but they are not doctors. If you use one, ask for the name of the surgeon and hospital in writing, and make sure you can talk to the medical team before you travel.
How do I compare quotes from different clinics?
