An inflatable implant is entirely inside the body. When deflated, the penis looks soft and most partners cannot tell. A malleable implant is always firm, so it can be a little more noticeable.

Modern implants are designed to last many years. As mechanical devices, they can eventually wear out; if that happens, the device or a part can be replaced in a revision operation.

We prepare you carefully before surgery, give intravenous antibiotics, use antibiotic-coated or antibiotic-impregnated devices and follow the non-touch technique, which keeps the implant away from the skin throughout the operation.

Soreness, swelling and bruising are normal for the first one to two weeks and are usually well controlled with pain relief. Some mild discomfort when using the implant can continue for a few months.

No. An implant restores rigidity; it does not increase your natural length. A three-piece inflatable implant has a reservoir in the lower abdomen and usually gives the most natural soft and firm states. A two-piece implant has no separate reservoir, which can suit men who have had abdominal or pelvic surgery. Your surgeon recommends the type after examining you. Many men return to desk work within the first couple of weeks. Avoid lifting, straining, the gym and anything that presses on the scrotum, such as cycling, until your surgeon says it is safe.
