Purpose of our content
The medical pages on this website are written to help men understand their condition and prepare questions for a consultation. They are general information. They do not replace an assessment by a qualified doctor, who can advise on your own situation. Please also read our medical disclaimer.
Editorial principles
- Accuracy first. We describe what a treatment can and cannot do, including its risks and alternatives.
- No guarantees. Every treatment carries risks and results vary. We do not promise outcomes, and we avoid words such as "guaranteed", "painless" or "permanent cure".
- No unsupported numbers. We only publish figures, such as complication rates, when we can cite a published source. Where we cannot verify a figure, we do not publish it.
- Real people only. Doctor profiles contain only information we have been able to check. Patient stories are published only with the patient's written permission, and we do not use invented testimonials or photos.
- Plain English. Pages are written for patients, with medical terms explained.
Sources and evidence
Where possible our content follows current clinical guidelines from professional bodies in urology and sexual medicine, and published research in peer-reviewed journals. When we quote a specific study, we give the reference on the page.
Medical review policy
Our main treatment and condition pages show a Medical review panel near the top of the page. It contains:
- Medical reviewer: the specialist responsible for checking the medical content of that page, linked to their profile. Reviewers are chosen for their experience in the topic, so not every page is reviewed by the same doctor.
- Last updated: the date the page was last edited.
- Last medically reviewed: the date the reviewer last signed the page off. Until the first sign-off has been recorded, this shows "Awaiting reviewer sign-off". We never enter a review date that has not taken place.
The reviewer checks that the page is accurate, balanced and consistent with current practice, and asks for changes where needed. We aim to review each medical page at least once a year, and sooner when guidance changes.
Updates and corrections
If you believe something on this website is inaccurate or out of date, please tell us through the contact page. We will check it with the relevant specialist and correct the page if needed.
Advertising and independence
Men's Health Istanbul is a private clinic, and this website describes the treatments we provide. We name implant manufacturers only to explain the options; the device is chosen with each patient according to their needs.
