Treating doctors and qualifications

Your operation is performed by the academic urologist confirmed in your treatment plan. Prof. Dr. Ateş Kadıoğlu heads the Division of Andrology at the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul University. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zülfü Sertkaya is a Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU). Read their full profiles: Prof. Kadıoğlu and Assoc. Prof. Sertkaya, or meet all our specialists.

Experience with penile implant surgery

Prof. Kadıoğlu's clinical practice is devoted to men with erectile dysfunction and penile curvature, including men who have had surgery before, such as implant revisions. Assoc. Prof. Sertkaya's surgical work covers penile implants and the surgical management of Peyronie's disease. Inflatable and malleable implants from Coloplast, Boston Scientific, Rigicon and Zephyr Surgical Implants are used. See implant surgery with Prof. Kadıoğlu.

Hospitals and clinic

Surgery takes place in accredited private hospitals in Istanbul. The hospital for your operation is named in your written treatment plan, together with your surgeon, your device and your dates. Every implant operation follows the non-touch infection-prevention protocol, and your implant's make, model and serial number are recorded in your file. Consultations and checks take place at our clinic office in Acıbadem, Üsküdar. See hospitals and clinic.

Assessment before surgery

Before you travel, the surgeon reviews your medical history and reports, often with a short video consultation. In Istanbul you have a consultation with the professor, a full examination and pre-operative tests at the hospital before the operation is confirmed.

Follow-up after surgery

The surgeon examines you before you fly home and tells you when you are fit to travel. You leave with written aftercare instructions and direct contact details, and follow-up continues by WhatsApp and video call. See aftercare and follow-up.

Support for international patients

An English-speaking coordinator keeps in touch by WhatsApp throughout your stay and helps with communication in hospital. Hotel and transfers are arranged for you, and a companion is welcome. See travel and accommodation.

Before you decide. A penile implant is surgery and carries risks, including infection, bleeding or bruising, mechanical failure of the device over time, erosion and a change in how the penis looks when erect. Placing an implant is a permanent change: if it is removed, other treatments for erectile dysfunction are unlikely to work. Results vary from person to person. Your surgeon explains your individual risks before you decide.
