About Rigicon
Rigicon is a medical device company that makes penile implants. It entered the market more recently than Coloplast and Boston Scientific, and offers both main families of implant: inflatable and malleable.
At Men's Health Istanbul the device is always chosen with you after your examination. Rigicon is one of several options, alongside the Coloplast Titan, the AMS 700 and ZSI devices.
Rigicon Infla10: inflatable
The Infla10 is a three-piece inflatable implant. Like other devices of this type it has:
- Two cylinders placed in the erection chambers of the penis
- A pump in the scrotum to inflate and deflate the cylinders
- A reservoir of sterile saline behind the abdominal wall
When deflated, the penis is soft and natural-looking; when inflated, it is firm for as long as you choose. The Infla10 range includes several cylinder options, so the surgeon can choose a size and type to match your anatomy.
Rigicon Rigi10: malleable
The Rigi10 is a malleable (semi-rigid) implant. Two bendable rods are placed in the penis, and there is no pump or reservoir. You bend the penis up for intercourse and down afterwards.
- Simpler to use: no pump to operate
- Fewer parts and usually a shorter operation
- The penis is always firm, so it is less discreet than an inflatable device

Who may suit a Rigicon implant?
Rigicon devices may be considered for the same men as other implants: those with erectile dysfunction that has not responded to tablets, injections or vacuum devices. The choice between brands depends on your anatomy, previous surgery, your preferences and what your surgeon considers most suitable. There is no single right brand for every man.

Surgery and recovery
An inflatable implant usually takes around 45–60 minutes to place; a malleable implant is often quicker. The operation is done under general or spinal anaesthesia through a small incision. You stay in hospital for up to two nights and in Istanbul for about six days. Intercourse is usually possible after 4–6 weeks. See surgery in Istanbul and recovery week by week.
Risks
Before you decide. Risks include infection, bleeding or haematoma, mechanical failure over time (for inflatable devices), erosion, and changes in how the penis looks or feels. An implant is a permanent change: if it is removed, other treatments for erectile dysfunction are unlikely to work. Results vary from person to person. If problems occur, revision surgery may be needed.
